Recreation
Recreational activities are in abundance in Jackson County. Within the county there are three parks and recreational departments (Jackson County, Commerce and Jefferson) offering a wide variety of activities including baseball, softball, football, swimming, tennis, cheerleading, exercise classes, before and after school care, summer camps and much, much more.
Jackson County is perfect for the golf enthusiast; there are several golf courses located within the county and many more within just a short driving distance.
Historical Locations 
Jackson County is home to several historic venues. Just some of the many historical venues located in the community are: Crawford W. Long Museum, the birthplace of anesthesia; Governor Hardman House, home of Governor L.G. Hardman; Hurricane Shoals, home to an authentic Grist Mill and several historic buildings; Sells Mill Park, home to The Mill building with water wheel; Shields-Ethridge Heritage Farm, an outdoor agricultural museum; among numerous others.
